That said, I love my eyes! A certifiable eye makeup junkie, I'm forever experimenting with different techniques, colors, and textures in an effort to find fun new ways to make eye-popping statements. Sometimes, I'm let down—like when my creative pursuits are undone by cake-y liner, flaking mascara, and not-so-long-lasting shadow. Other times, however, I fall head over heels—as was the case with Maybelline New York's Eye Studio collection (which is rolling out in drugstores as we speak).

This is a lavender look I've recreated often in recent weeks (purple eye shadow is supposed to bring out the green in hazel eyes). Using the Eye Studio Color Plush Eyeshadow in Purple Icon, I applied the silvery hue on the inner corners to make my eyes appear farther apart and more Bambi-like. Next, I used the two medium-purple shades on the lid, saving the darkest plum for the crease. (Because I have Asian eyes, I applied shadow pretty liberally—color tends to disappear into my crease when my eyes are open!). Using the brush that it came with, I then applied the Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black along the upper lash line. On the lower lash line, I used the same product in Eggplant. To finish, I brushed Lash Stiletto Voluptuous Mascara (also new) on lower lashes and XXL Pro Curl on upper ones. (Note: The XXL Pro Curl is a miracle-worker for me, because I have a major aversion to lash curlers—I inevitably tense up and blink at lightening-fast speed the second the cool metal hits my eye.)
